Spoken English for Beginners – Build Confidence in Everyday Communication

Course Description:

This 12-week beginner-friendly spoken English course is designed to help learners communicate confidently in daily situations. Through interactive speaking practice, vocabulary building, grammar essentials, listening exercises, and real-life role-plays, students will develop the skills needed to speak clear, correct, and fluent English. Prior knowledge of English is required β€” just enthusiasm to learn and practice.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Use common greetings, expressions, and polite phrases in everyday conversations.
  • Build simple sentences using basic grammar (Present, Past, and Future tenses).
  • Understand and respond to everyday questions confidently.
  • Expand vocabulary related to home, work, travel, shopping, and daily routines.
  • Improve pronunciation, clarity, and confidence while speaking.
  • Listen to and understand simple conversations and short spoken passages.
  • Participate in role-plays for real-life situations such as ordering food, asking for directions, and making small talk.
  • Express ideas, tell short stories, and describe experiences in English.
  • Prerequisites:

    • Basic English knowledge required

    Mentor Support:

    Learners will have access to an experienced instructor who will provide support through discussion forums, live Q&A sessions, and email to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the course.

    Week 1 – Basics of English Communication
    • Alphabet, sounds & pronunciation basics
    • Greetings and polite expressions
    • Introducing yourself
    • Numbers 1–20 and basic counting
    • Days of the week, months of the year
    • Listening: simple greetings
    • Speaking: introduce yourself to a partner
    Week 2 – Everyday Vocabulary
    • Vocabulary: family members
    • Vocabulary: common foods & drinks
    • Vocabulary: classroom & household items
    • Asking β€œWhat is this?” / β€œWhere is…?”
    • Using β€œthis/that/these/those”
    • Listening: identifying objects

    Week 4 – Daily Life & Routines

    • Talking about frequency (always, often, sometimes)
    • Pronunciation practice: minimal pairs (ship/sheep)
    • Listening: daily routine descriptions
    • Speaking: describe your day
    Week 5 – Talking About the Present Moment
    • Present Continuous tense: positive sentences
    • Present Continuous: negatives & questions
    • Vocabulary: clothes & colors
    • Describing what people are doing
    • Pronunciation: word stress in sentences
    • Listening: actions in progress
    • Speaking: describe a picture
    Week 6 – Places & Directions
    • Vocabulary: places in town
    • Prepositions of place (in, on, under, next to)
    • Asking for & giving directions
    • Vocabulary: transport
    • Listening: simple direction conversations
    • Speaking: role-play asking for directions
    • Review of Weeks 1–5
    Week 7 – Talking About the Past
    • Past Simple tense: positive sentences
    • Past Simple: negatives & questions
    • Vocabulary: travel & holidays
    • Talking about yesterday
    • Pronunciation: regular verb endings (-ed)
    • Listening: past event stories
    • Speaking: share one memory
    Week 8 – Shopping & Money
    • Vocabulary: clothes, food, and shopping items
    • Asking for prices
    • Using β€œHow much…?” and β€œI would like…”
    • Polite requests and offers
    • Listening: shopping conversations
    • Speaking: role-play shopping
    • Mini vocabulary quiz
    Week 9 – Future Plans
    • Using β€œwill” for future
    • Talking about tomorrow/next week

    Certification

    Course Certification:

    Upon successful completion of the course, there will be cumulative test conducted and students who scored above 60% marks will receive a certificate of completion from GeekBase Technology, which can be used to showcase their newly acquired Spoken English skills.

    Note: Test will be a MCQ pattern and maximum two attempts allowed.
