It's one of the most common complaints we hear from business owners: "We spent money on a website, but when we search for our business on Google, it doesn't come up." The good news is that the cause is usually one of a handful of fixable problems. Here they are, from the most basic to the most competitive.
1. Google hasn't found the site yet
A brand-new website can take days or weeks to be discovered. Speed it up by adding the site to Google Search Console and submitting your sitemap. Search Console also tells you exactly which pages are indexed and which aren't — it's the first place to look for every problem below.
2. The site is blocking Google by mistake
Developers often block search engines while a site is being built, then forget to remove the block at launch. Check for a noindex tag on your pages or a Disallow: / line in your robots.txt file. One forgotten line can hide an entire website.
3. Duplicate versions of the same site
If your site loads on both geekbase.in and www.geekbase.in, or with and without .html at the end, Google sees several copies of every page and splits its attention between them. Pick one version and redirect the rest to it permanently (a 301 redirect).
4. You're searching for the wrong thing
Your site may already rank for your business name but not for "hardware shop in Salem" or "dental clinic near me". Those are different, more competitive searches. Search Console shows the actual searches your site appears for — start there instead of guessing.
5. Pages have no real text
Many small-business sites are a few images with a phone number. Google ranks text it can read. Each service you offer should have its own page explaining what it is, who it's for, where you serve and what it costs.
6. Titles and descriptions are missing or identical
The page title is one of the strongest signals Google uses. "Home" or the same title on every page tells Google nothing. A good title names the service and the location — for example, "Website Development Company in Namakkal, Salem & Erode".
7. The site is slow or broken on mobile
Most searches in India happen on phones. If your site takes several seconds to load or the text is tiny on a phone, Google ranks it lower. Test it with Google's free PageSpeed Insights tool.
8. No Google Business Profile
For local searches, Google shows the map results first. Without a verified, complete Google Business Profile you won't appear there at all. See our Google Business Profile guide.
9. Nobody links to you
Links from other trusted websites tell Google your business is real and relevant. Start with local directories, your trade association, suppliers and partners — genuine links, never bought link packages.
Where to start
Fix problems 1 to 3 first; they can make every other effort useless. Then improve your content and local presence. If you'd rather have it done for you, our SEO services start with a full audit that finds exactly which of these problems your site has.

How long does it take for a new website to appear on Google?
Usually a few days to a few weeks after Google discovers it. Submitting a sitemap in Google Search Console speeds this up.
Is Google Search Console free?
Yes. It is a free tool from Google that shows which pages are indexed, which searches you appear for, and any errors on your site.
Why does my site show for my business name but not for my services?
Ranking for your own name is easy because nobody else competes for it. Service and location searches need dedicated pages, good titles, local SEO and links.
Can you check why my website is not on Google?
Yes. Our SEO audit checks indexing, technical issues, content and local signals, and gives you a prioritised list of fixes.
